Hyderabad Police Commissioner A K Khan on Monday said that the city police would form special teams to track and nab bettors who would like to use the forthcoming Cricket World Cup to make money illegally.
Khan said that the special teams would monitor various pubs, hotels, restaurants and lodges located in the twin cities which organize special screenings of matches. Apart from these, the teams would also monitor unusual activities, particularly during the World Cup.
The top cop warned that anyone found indulging in betting or gambling would not be spared. He said that stringent action would be taken against the bettors.
Khan further revealed that a press conference would be called shortly to provide more details.
The Cricket World Cup is scheduled to be kicked off from February 19th. The quadrangular event would witness 14 teams vying to win the coveted Cup.
