Telangana Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member K Kesava Rao on Wednesday stated that the credit for 9 Dec 2009 statement by Home Minister P Chidambaram on Telangana must go to Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Speaking at a dharna organized by T-journalists at Indira Park to express solidarity with the ongoing Telangana employees' general strike, Kesava Rao said that Congress leaders from Telangana were ready to submit their resignations for the cause of separate statehood. Stating no one could obstruct the formation of a Telangana state, he asked leaders to stop making "confusing statements" on the issue.
TRS MLA T Harish Rao said that the formation of a T state was more important for employees than their salaries for September. He also condemned a section of media for stating that the general strike by was inconveniencing people as well as causing a loss to the state's exchequer.
He criticized Telangana members of the Congress and the TDP for backtracking on submitting resignations afresh from their posts.
Earlier, Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof. M Kodandaram expressed solidarity with the journalists' agitation. He called upon the employees to picket national highways on 18 September as part of intensifying the agitation.
He also asked Telangana Congress leaders to mount pressure on the Prime Minister towards achieving a Telangana state. (INN)
