AP Minister for Municipal Administration & Urban Development Botsa Satyanarayana on Monday introduced in the Assembly the bill to abolish the CRDA.
Speaking on the occasion, Botsa explained the reasons behind the decision of the state government to scrap the CRDA, which was created for the establishment of the state capital by the previous TDP government.
He said that the state had now been divided into zones due to regional inequalities. He alleged that the previous Chief Minister had decided to set up the state capital at one place without taking into consideration the views, needs and opinions of all the people of the State, and without taking into consideration the actual economic status of the state.
He also said the previous government had taken a unilateral decision without perusing the recommendations made by the Sivaramakrishnan Committee on the establishment of the capital.
He claimed that the current government had introduced this Bill to ensure the development of all the 13 districts in the state.
The Boston Consulting Group, the G N Rao Committee and the high-powered committee constituted by the state government had all also submitted reports to the state government recommending decentralization of the governance of the state for equal and balanced development, he said.
He asked the state government to distribute the limited resources available at its disposal to all the 13 districts to ensure equal development of all of them.
