CPI State Secretary Chada Venkat Reddy today said that a complaint would be filed with the Election Commission against their lone Telangana legislator, Devarakonda MLA Ravindra Kumar, who defected to the ruling TRS "in violation of democratic norms".
"We will urge the EC to immediately disqualify Ravindra Kumar and take action against the TRS for luring our MLA," Reddy said.
Addressing mediapersons at Makhdoom Bhavan on Monday, the former MLA accused the TRS government of indulging in wholesale political "prostitution" by encouraging defections in a big way.
He also criticized Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for "purchasing" MLAs from various political parties and trying to eliminate the Opposition in the State.
"The ruling Party is not supposed to encourage defections which are against the Constitution," he said.
Welcoming Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu's comment of disqualifying candidates for changing Parties, he sought an amendment to the Anti-Defection Law in Parliament.
He also took exception to the State government for targeting the Opposition on the Mallannasagar project.
