To contain the spread of the coronavirus, the Andhra Pradesh government has decided not to allow the state's residents who are not migrant workers and who have gotten stranded in other states of the country, to come back for now.
The government said that it would only allow migrant workers of the state stranded in other places of the country to return, as per the orders of the union government.
Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy urged all others not to return to the state till the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic disappeared.
He said that the state government was making arrangements to keep the migrant workers who were returning to the state under home or hospital quarantine, and that it would be difficult to keep all the others wanting to return too in quarantine.
The CM made these remarks after holding a high-level review meeting on the issue with the officials of the state.
Speaking on the occasion he said that the spirit being displayed by the people of the state in the battle against the coronavirus was worthy of praise. He urged the people to extend cooperation to the state government by following its guidelines issued from time to time.
