Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee official spokesperson Konagala Mahesh alleged that the BJP was a Telangana betrayer.
Speaking to the media on Sunday, Mahesh said that the BJP did grave injustice to Telangana in today's reshuffle of the union cabinet by denying the state adequate representation. The party had in fact insulted the Telangana people by denying the state a single cabinet berth, he said.
The Telugu states had got adequate recognition during the UPA government, with the UPA giving 12 ministerial berths to united Andhra Pradesh. Telangana MPs had got three minister posts then, he said. He said that the BJP had however neglected the southern states almost completely, and proved once again that it was a north-Indian party.
He also alleged that the BJP government had failed to implement the assurances to Telangana like a setting up a rail coach factory and giving national status for irrigation projects made in the AP Reorganization Act, and had not even bifurcated the High Court till now.
He warned the BJP that the Telangana people would teach it a fitting lesson in the 2019 elections for insulting their state continuously.
Bandaru Dattatreya was the lone minister from Telangana in the union cabinet till last week, but was asked to resign ahead of the reshuffle.
