Congress MLAs from the Madiga community today urged the party leadership to give include them in the anticipated Cabinet expansion in the Telangana government.
Among those who travelled to Delhi were ruling party MLAs Adlur Laxman, Mandula Samuel, Kavvam Palli Satyanarayana and Lakshmi Kantharao. They are seeking appointments with senior leaders including AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and General Secretary K C Venugopal to articulate their demand for a Cabinet position.
"The Madiga community is a significant social group in Telangana and has consistently supported the Congress. We are not opposed to including Malas in the Cabinet as well. However, for true justice to be served to the Madiga community, there must be representation for them in the Cabinet," a Congress MLA said.
"We arrived in New Delhi because it is the party leadership that determines the composition of the Cabinet. We are optimistic that members of the Madiga community will secure positions in the Cabinet. We urge the party leadership to consider providing representation for our community once again," another MLA said.
They said that they were okay with whichever MLA from the Madiga community was given a chance.
