Congress Wants Nandyal By-Poll Cancelled
The AP Congress alleged that both the TDP and the YSR Congress were distributing money to win the election, and had made it the most expensive ever in India.
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president N Raghuveera Reddy today alleged that the Nandyal Assembly by-election, scheduled to be held on August 23, had become the most expensive election ever, and urged the Election Commission to cancel it.
Addressing the media on Thursday, Reddy alleged that both the ruling TDP and the Opposition YSR Congress Party were distributing money to woo the voters and win the election, and the amount splurged so far had made it the most expensive election ever in the country.
Recalling that the Election Commission had canceled the R K Nagar by-election in Tamil Nadu as money was being distributed lavishly, the APCC chief urged the EC to shelve the Nandyal by-poll, too, for the same reason.
He also alleged that the entire government machinery had been deployed in Nandyal to enable the TDP to win.
