Congress Ridicules Heroic Welcome To Kavitha

Congress leaders pointed out that the BRS MLC was sent to jail because of her role in the Delhi liquor policy scam, and not because she was a patriot.
Hyderabad | 28th August 2024
Congress leader and Advisor to the State Government Mohammed Ali Shabbir today ridiculed the heroic welcome accorded to BRS MLC K Kavitha following her release from Tihar jail.

Shabbir Ali mocked the BRS leaders for creating a hype around Kavitha's release and celebrating the occasion by bursting crackers and distributing sweets. He pointed out that Kavitha was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for involvement in the Delhi liquor policy scam, and that she was released on conditional bail and not acquitted of the charges.

He also alleged that Kavitha's release was linked to a secret understanding between the BRS and the BJP in Telangana. As a result, he asserted, the BJP helped Kavitha secure bail from the Supreme Court by instructing the ED and CBI not to oppose her release.

He also predicted that more BRS leaders, including former CM K Chandrashekar Rao, his son K T Rama Rao and his nephew T Harish Rao, would also face imprisonment due to the Kaleshwaram scam. He said that the judicial probe into the irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project was nearing completion, and that all those involved in the scam would be arrested and sent to jail.

Congress leader Gajjela Kantham also accused the BRS of portraying MLC Kavitha as a patriotic leader.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Kantham too said that Kavitha was sent to jail because of her role in the Delhi liquor policy scam.

"If the case is proved, Kavitha will go to jail again. But the BRS leaders are portraying her as if she has made sacrifices for the country," he said.
