Former union minister Sarve Satyanarayana pleaded Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to extend his support to UPA presidential candidate Meira Kumar, who was the one that passed the Telangana Bill in Lok Sabha.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, Sarve alleged that KCR had fallen in the Modi maya and forgotten that it was UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi who had accorded Telangana and UPA presidential candidate Meira Kumar who had passed the Telangana Bill as the then Lok Sabha Speaker.
Sarve also said that announcing Meira Kumar's name for the President's post showed Sonia Gandhi's for dalits and women. "The entire country is happy that Sonia Gandhi announced Meira Kumar's name. She has all the eligibilities, efficiency and experience for the President post, and is a greater personality than Ram Nath Kovind," he said.
Kumar would win the Presidential election just like former President V V Giri during Indira Gandhi's regime, he claimed.
Pointing out that there were no dalit or woman candidates in KCR's Cabinet, and that KCR had announced that he would make a dalit as Chief Minister if the separate state was formed but took up the post himself, Sarve said that KCR had attained the anti-dalit label already. He said that several TRS MPs would participate in cross-voting in the Presidential elections and that several MPs were ready to put a check on KCR.
He also asked MIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi not to fall into Modi's web. He asked Owaisi how he could extend his support to Kovind who had spoken against Muslim reservations. He asked Owaisi to rethink on his decision.
He also asked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar how he could take his own decision while continuing in the UPA, and asked Kumar to rethink extending his support to the NDA candidate.
