KCR Backing Kovind Due To Avoid CBI Cases: Congress
The party alleged that the Telangana CM was extending his support to the NDA Presidential candidate only to extricate himself from the CBI cases he was facing.
Alleging that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was extending his support to the NDA Presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind only to extricate himself from the CBI cases he was facing, Alampur Congress MLA S A Sampath Kumar said that many TRS MLAs were eager to cast their votes for the UPA candidate Meira Kumar, since that is what they believed was the right thing to do.
Speaking at the Assembly Media Hall on Thursday, Kumar asked KCR not to "mortgage" the self-respect of the Telangana people at the feet of the BJP by extending support to Kovind. He said that the efforts of the then Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar in passing the Telangana Bill were unforgettable, and that the TRS MLAs and MPs should extend their support to her if they had a conscience. He said that over 90% of public representatives of Telangana would cast their votes for Meira Kumar if they followed their conscience, and that he was sure that would actually happen.
