The Telugu Desam Party has demanded that the state government transfer the powers to decide the beneficiaries of the Adarsha Rythu scheme from the district in-charge ministers to the District Collectors.
Addressing a press conference at NTR Trust Bhavan on Tuesday, TDP MLA D Narendra alleged that the ministers were distributing the benefits of the scheme to unemployed workers of the Congress. Therefore, the powers must be delegated to the District Collectors to ensure that the real beneficiaries are serviced, he said.
The TDP MLA alleged that the District Collectors were being used as rubber stamps by the ministers, and that despite identification of deserving beneficiaries, they were unable to extend the benefits of the Adarsha Rythu scheme to the people.
He demanded that the state government cancel the GO that empowers the ministers to decide on beneficiaries.
Narendra also alleged that certain Congress leaders have been collecting money to hand over the possession of houses sanctioned under various housing schemes to the poor. He announced that the TDP would raise the issue during the next Assembly session. (INN)
