Congress Medho Madhanam being conducted at L B Stadium today is in full swing. The meeting was organised to review the ongoing welfare measures being taken up by the Congress party in the state, and also to address any other issues. The abscence of MPs Kavuri Sambasiva Rao and G V Harshakumar raised several eyebrows.
While PCC chief Botsa Satyanarayana had already annouced that the Telangana issue will not be raised at the meeting, Telangana Congress leaders are insisting on it being addressed at the meeting.
Meanwhile, during his speech at the meeting, Botsa spoke about the acomplishments of Congress in the state, eludating on schemes like fee reimbursement; various subsidies like the Indiramma scheme and 1 kg rice for 1 re.; irrigation projects like Polavaram and Pranahita-Chevella projects, and the recent introduction of the SC/ST sub-plan.
Later, MP Vundavalli Aruna Kumar took over the dais to explain the move to introduce FDI in the country. Stating that the move had not been made lightly and through meetings in offices, he divulged that the concerned ministers had taken 17 registered unions for consumers and farmers into their confidence, and the guidelines had been made only after listening to all their concerns. He also added, that chief ministers of 21 states had been written to, and it was only after a consensus of the majority had been achieved, had they gone on with it.
