Continuing its ambiguity on the Telangana issue, the state Congress skirted the issue terming it as sensitive, and escalating it to the Centre’s purview, as thousands of leaders and cadre from across the state descended at the Lal Bahadur Stadium, the venue for the extended general body meeting of the PCC.
In the inaugural speech, PCC Chief Botsa Satyanarayana said, "The state has some sensitive issues like the separate statehood. Here, we have people coming from all the regions who have diverse views. We shall leave it to the High Command to decide on it."
Leaders from Telangana region, K Kesava Rao, Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha, and J Geeta Reddy, who were on the dais, looked uncomfortable.
At the coordination committee meeting, Telangana ministers tried to broach the subject yesterday, but it was hushed up. And the matter was confined only to a letter written by Telangana ministers to the Centre.
However, the meeting began with a resolve to strengthen the party for the next general election and blowing the trumpet of achievements of the Congress government. YSR name went by as a passing remark and his death in a helicopter crash. The Congress has been continuing all the welfare schemes, Botsa said.
Complimenting the state for introducing SC/ST sub-plan bill, he said that welfare and development are being balanced well by the state.
Criticising TDP and YSRCP and the padayatras, he called upon the cadre to teach them a lesson in the next elections. (INN)
