Telangana Political Joint Action Committee Chairman M Kodandaram on Friday described the Congress as the biggest obstacle in the formation of a separate Telangana state.
Addressing Telangana activists after hoisting a Telangana flag at Martyrs Memorial at Gun Park, to mark 2 years since Chidambaram announced the formation of Telangana, Kodandaram said that the Congress and its leaders have repeatedly created obstacles in the formation of a Telangana state.
He announced that the JAC would intensify its struggle for statehood with more vigour, and mount pressure on the Congress Ministers and MLAs from the region to achieve statehood for Telangana.
Kodandaram alleged that Telangana Congress leaders and TDP Telangana Forum members are working to protect the interests of the "Seemandhra government", and that they are diluting the statehood agitation.
He also alleged that former Congress minister Komatireddy Venkatreddy has cheated the people of Telangana by voting against the No Confidence Motion introduced by the TDP against the government.
The TP-JAC chairman called upon statehood activists to target elected representatives who have "not shown their commitment towards Telangana", to take the agitation forwarf with a slogan "Congress ka khatham karo, Telangana hasil karo" ("finish Congress, achieve Telangana").
Asking the Centre to honour its promise of a Telangana, he said that the government should stop testing the patience of Telangana people at least now.
Demanding that TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu make his party's stand on Telangana clear, Kodandaram said that if the people's representatives are really committed to a Telangana state, they must quit their posts and agitate for the bifurcation of the state.
Telangana Jagruthi president K Kavitha, Telangana Employees JAC leaders Swamy Goud, Vittal and Devi Sri Prasad were also present in the program. (INN)
