The Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday strongly condemned the statement of AICC President Sonia Gandhi wherein she alleged that the BJP had obstructed the A P State Reorganization Bill (the Telangana bill) when it was presented in the Parliament.
"It exposes a plain lie, an untruth and an attempt to wilfully mislead the people of Telangana. A party which has no strength to pass any bills without the BJP's support, leave alone the A P State Bifurcation Bill, did not have capability to get the Telangana bill passed, if not for unconditional support of the BJP in both Houses of the parliament. If at all anyone can legitimately claim credit for achieving Telangana, it is only the BJP," Telangana BJP Spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao said in a statement.
He described the Congress public rally as a "flop show". Neither could they establish any rapport with the people of Telangana with their illegitimate claims nor could they showcase any strength, he remarked. It was evident that the Congress party even in this region was in a "defeated mindset" due to their certain & miserable defeat across the country in the general and Assembly elections 2014, he said.
"Sonia Gandhi calling BJP a "religious fundamentalist" party is like the Devil quoting the Vedas. In an open and defiant non-secular spirit, the leader of the Congress had met the religious head of Islam in Delhi and sought a religious vote. In her recent address to the nation through an advertisement, she clearly divided the voters on religious lines and sought their support. Congress' rank opportunism is evident through its actions, and there is a lot of gap between the cup and the lip," he said.
Krishna Saagar Rao said that the BJP coalition in Telangana had now set a mission of 65 + 10 (MLA & MP seats), and the party workers and leaders were working in tandem with alliance partner TDP to ensure consolidation and transfer of votes in all the seats they were contesting across Telangana.
Only the BJP coalition could ensure development & progress for Telangana with its rich experience & established good governance and developmental track record in all BJP-ruled states since 15-20 years, he claimed. The governments of Gujarat, MP, Goa, Chattisgarh and Rajastan were exemplary in their governance and people-centric rule, he said, and therefore Telangana needed a BJP government to ensure "Telangana Pragathi".
