Senior Telugu Desam Party leader Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu charged the state government, on Tuesday, of misleading the people by claiming that the State's fertiliser shortage was due to a fall in supply by the Centre.
Muddukrishnama Naidu told media persons that the TDP had requested the Ministry to reveal details about the difference between the demand of fertilisers from the state and its supply. The Union Agriculture Ministry has denied holding back supply of fertilisers to the state, as opposed to the government's claims.
The TDP leader said that officials of the Agriculture Ministry claimed that there was minimal gap between demand and supply of fertilisers to and from Andhra Pradesh.
Muddukrishnama Naidu charged that the Congress leaders were creating an artificial scarcity in the market to raise the prices of fertilisers to help some vested interests.
The TDP leader charged that some unscrupulous officials were looting the state since Chief Minister K Rosaiah was indisposed.
The senior TDP leader also said that his party has been asking for a CBI inquiry into the businesses of Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy. When questioned about the purpose of an inquiry by an agency which has been dubbed as the "Congress Bureau of Investigation" by his own party president, Muddukrishnama Naidu chose to remain silent.
Shifting his attention to Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi, the senior TDP leader said that his party was pleased that the actor-turned-politician has finally
taken up the issue of massive irregularities in the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation.
