Stating that it was playing a constructive role, the Congress alleged that the ruling TRS had passed the Telangana Land Acquisition Bill within 10 minutes since only passing the bill was important for the government, and not the well-being of the people.
Speaking at the Assembly Media Point along with party MLAs after the adjournment of the Assembly on Sunday, CLP leader K Jana Reddy said that there was no minimum support price for the produce of farmers, resulting at this time in untold problems for the red chilli farmers. And instead of addressing the issue, the state government had arrested the red chilli farmers along with Congress MLA Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy when they had staged an agitation protesting the low prices in the markets.
"We requested the state government to take up a discussion on the red chilli farmers' issue. The government behaved undemocratically by denying that completely, and instead attaining its own agenda in give minutes. The people have to understand the developments and the peoples' organizations have to oppose these developments taking place in the state," he said.
TPCC working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka threw a challenge to the state government to come to the Khammam Market Yard to know who the farmers were and who were the rowdies.
"No Khammam farmer will be afraid of KCR. They are real farmers and they will not be scared of cases," he said.
