Senior Congress leader and Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy has reportedly been staying away from party programs for the past few days. He also did not attend a crucial meeting of the screening committee recently. He had been saying for a long time that the party had been his first priority always, and so it is noteworthy that he has now started to say that self-respect is important.
Although the exact reason behind his distancing himself is not known, he is reported to be upset over not getting any key positions in the party. It is learnt that Reddy is deeply disappointed as he did not get a post in either the CWC or the Central Congress Election Committee.
In this connection, the AICC stepped in to appease the veteran leader.
At the instance of the party's high command, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal reportedly called up the MP and advised him to resolve his internal party problems amicably and become active in party activities. Venugopal also said that he would be visiting Hyderabad soon, and asked Reddy to meet him in person in the State capital.
Telangana Congress in-charge Manikrao Thakre is also likely to visit the residence of Reddy to pacify him. Thakre also made an announcement after the screening committee meeting that he would meet Reddy.
Senior leader Bhatti, however, said that Reddy was a strong party leader, and that he (Reddy) was not disappointed with the party leadership.
