An activist of the Congress party was taken into custody by the Begum Bazar police after he climbed atop the Gandhi Bhavan at the headquarters of the Telangana Congress party on Monday.
The activist, who was later identified as Raghav Goud (the president of the Sanjay Gandhi Yuva Sena), was reportedly protesting against the appointment of Ponnala Lakshmaiah as the chief of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee.
He alleged that Ponnala was involved in scams of crores of rupees in the execution of the Jalayagnam projects, and therefore should immediately be removed from the post.
On receiving information about Goud's antics, the Begum Bazar police reached Gandhi Bhavan and took him into custody. (INN)
