The City Police on Thursday arrested seven people in connection with incidents of communal violence in Musheerabad area that occurred last night.
According to police, a boy, Mohammad Arif of Bholakpur, was assaulted by some local miscreants on Wednesday night at around 9 PM near a Saibaba temple at Kavadiguda. Consequently, the local groups gathered in large numbers to pelt stones at each other. Two RTC buses and some private vehicles were also damaged. In the stone pelting and the subsequent melee, four persons were injured.
Police said that specific cases had been registered regarding the attack and the damage of property. So far, seven people have been arrested and other suspects are being questioned. Pickets have been deployed in the area and patrolling has been intensified to bring back normalcy. The situation is currently under control.
City Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma stated that the police and administration would not tolerate people taking law into their hands, and that those doing so would be dealt with in a firm manner in accordance with Law. (INN)
