Former minister Koppula Eshwar, former MLA Korukanti Chander and former Corporation Chairman Mede Rajiv Sagar today rushed to the NIMS in the city to inquire about the health condition of Gurukul student Shailaja, who fell ill after consuming contaminated food at the Vankidi tribal girls' ashram school in Kumrambheem Asifabad district.
Speaking to the media after their visit, Eshwar said that Jyothi Mahalakshmi, who also fell ill after consuming contaminated food at the same school, had been treated at NIMS and discharged after receiving care, but that Shailaja's condition remained serious - she was on dialysis due to kidney issues and was not responding well to treatment.
"This SC student Shailaja, who had dreams of studying and improving her future, is now struggling for her life due to food poisoning," he said, and slammed the government's "incompetence".
"CM Revanth Reddy's negligence has cost the lives of 42 students. He doesn't care that students go hungry because they can't eat the contaminated food. He doesn't care if students are hospitalized due to food poisoning. He doesn't care if students are forced to protest on the streets. It's a tragedy," Eshwar lamented.
"This disaster is entirely due to the negligence of the current government under the leadership of Revanth Reddy and the concerned authorities. On behalf of the BRS, I demand that justice be served for Shailaja in every possible way," he added.
