BRS leader R S Praveen Kumar today alleged that the real culprit behind the issues surrounding the Musi river and the HYDRA demolitions was Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, and that the true victims were the poor people of Telangana.
Speaking to media representatives at the Kanchanbagh police station, Kumar demanded that cases be filed against the Chief Minister for using abusive language against his political opponents.
He also claimed that the CM was planning to loot public money under the guise of the Musi river beautification project, and said that the task force police should visit the Chief Minister's residence instead of the homes of the poor.
The BRS leader also expressed his displeasure over the arrest of BRS activist Naresh in Kadthal, Kalwakurthy mandal, for allegedly sharing videos of the victims of the HYDRA incident who expressed anger towards the CM. He said that police were dispatched to Kadthal overnight, resulting in Naresh's arrest and subsequent transport to the Kanchanbagh police station. He claimed that four phones belonging to Naresh and his friends were illegally seized by the police. Further, he said that although Naresh should have been released on bail under Section 35(3) of the BNS Act, he had yet to be freed.
Praveen Kumar emphasized that Naresh was not alone, and that many poor individuals across the State had been targeted by the police in a similar manner. He asked the Congress government how many more people would be harassed in an attempt to silence the genuine voices.
