Medak MP Raghunandan Rao today demanded that the State government demolish all the illegal buildings of the BRS leaders.
He alleged that the Congress and the BRS were "playing dramas" over the demolition of illegal structures by HYDRA.
"The Congress government is saying that HYDRA was set up with good intentions. If that is true, then the buildings occupied and constructed by the BRS leaders, especially those belonging to KTR, Kavitha and Harish Rao, should be demolished," he said.
Rao asked CM Revanth Reddy why he was afraid to demolish the farmhouses belonging to K T Rama Rao and other BRS leaders. He claimed that encroachments had increased during the 10-year rule of the BRS, and demanded action against those involved in those encroachments. He specifically challenged the Congress government to demolish the farmhouse constructed by KTR in Janwada "in violation of rules".
"The ruling party leaders are also saying that cases have been filed against leaders who have encroached upon the FTL and buffer zones of tanks. If that is true then why are they not being arrested?" he asked.
Rao recalled that in 2014 the High Court had ordered the demolition of N Convention owned by actor Nagarjuna. He asked why the BRS, which was in power then, did not take action against N Convention, and demanded that the then municipal administration minister K T Rama Rao come clean on what was behind the convention centre. He also demanded that KTR should be arrested as the first accused in the case of not taking action against the management of N Convention for its encroachment.
Rao also said that in 2010, the court had ruled that whatever was constructed on the FTL and Shikam lands should be demolished. "With this verdict, the then united Andhra Pradesh government brought in GO 157. An 18-member Lake Protection Committee was also constituted in this regard. Can CM Revanth Reddy tell us what the condition of city-based Mir Alam tank is now?" he asked. He also recalled that in 1994, the then Chief Minister Kotla VijayaBhaskar Reddy had responded to the Mir Alam tank encroachment and removed the illegal structures.
