Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy today laid foundation stone for the construction of an elevated double decker corridor at Kandla Koya on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
The 5.3-kilometre corridor will be constructed on NH-44 at a cost of Rs 1,580 crore.
Once the corridor is completed, travel from Secunderabad to Medchal, Medak, Kamareddy, Nizamabad, Nirmal and Adilabad districts will improve.
The proposed corridor will also end the decades-long hardships faced by motorists on National Highway (NH) 44.
The Metro Rail will also be built on this elevated corridor in the next phase.
The corridor starts from Paradise junction in Secunderabad on NH-44 and ends at the Dairy Farm Road. It will pass via the Tadband junction and the Boinapally junction. The total length of this corridor will be 5.32 km, and the elevated corridor will be developed on a 4.65 km stretch. The length an underground tunnel part of it will be 0.6 km. There will be a total of 131 piers (pillars). The corridor will be constructed in six lanes. Ramps will be constructed at two places near the Boinapally Junction - at 0.248 km and at 0.475 km - to facilitate the movement of traffic on the elevated corridor.
After the completion of the corridor works, the metro rail line will be taken up on the elevated corridor. The new facility will provide a safer, faster and more comfortable journey for commuters.
