Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Friday inaugurated a digital center for MLAs and MLCs in the Assembly premises. Deputy Speaker N Manohar, Legislative Council Chairman A Chakrapani and IT Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah were present at the inauguration.
Speaking at the function, Kiran Kumar Reddy said, "Andhra Pradesh is the first state in the country to digitize the Assembly records and make them available online. It is also the first state to start a training programme for MLCs and MLAs in the Assembly premises."
The MLAs and MLCs were given exposure to eGovernance by officers from the IT & C department and other eminent personalities.
The department was given the task of creating a computer lab within the assembly premises within 3 months. The lab has been created within the stipulated period, in the space allotted by the Deputy Speaker. All legislators can avail themselves of this facility for training, internet browsing and seeing records of previous proceedings (uploaded onto the internet).
The lab has state-of-the-art computers with high-end display monitors and 1 Mbps high-speed internet connection.
Assembly Secretary Raja Sadaram said that all Assembly records from 1956 and all video records from 1996 have been digitized.
Principal Secretary of the IT & C department K Ratnaprabha (IAS) was also present at the inauguration.
