Health Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy today said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was on a mission to modernize the government hospitals in the state.
The TRS government was committed to offering the best and unparalleled health services to the poor and deprived classes, he averred.
Talking to mediapersons after evaluating the area hospitals at Nampally and Malakpet for the possible shifting there of some branches of the Osmania General Hospital, the minister lamented that the previous governments had neglected the health sector and the hospitals, which were in dilapidated conditions now.
The minister's visit assumes significance in the wake of KCR, during his visit to the Osmania General Hospital, promising to shift it immediately and build a modern hospital on the same premises.
The minister said, "Since the OGH will be demolished to be able to build a new one in the same premises, we are extensively touring the hospitals in the city to identify facilities to accommodate some departments from there," he said.
Stating that the patients would be shifted soon to various hospitals in the city, Reddy said that some 200 beds from the OGH were likely to be shifted to Care Hospital, while orthopedic and surgical gastroenterology patients would be shifted to King Koti Hospital. (NSS)
