Chief Minister K Rosaiah expressed his regrets over the death of one person due to
police firing at Sompeta in Srikakulam district on Wednesday.
Talking to media persons in New Delhi, Rosaiah said that he had talked to the Srikakulam district Collector and the Home Minister as soon as he came to know of the incident.
Rosaiah said that he had received the confirmed news of one person dying due to the police firing.
When asked about the course of action the state government is taking over the incident, Rosaiah said that he would be able to answer the question only when he reaches Hyderabad. He said that he would have to talk to officials and ministers concerned, and go to the root of the issue.
The Chief Minister said that he was taking the opportunity to appeal to the people to observe maximum possible restraint and ensure that a peaceful way out is found.
