Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Thursday announced that Rs. 5 lakh would be given to the next of kin of the 2 persons killed by police bullets at Sompeta in Srikakulam on Wednesday.
Conveying this decision to the state assembly, Home Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy said that those injured due to the violence which rocked the district will be provided treatment free of cost. She added that the government was considering if it can provide employment to one of the family members of the persons killed in the firing.
The Home Minister also told the House that the protests by the people over the setting up of a thermal power project were deep-rooted and not spontaneous.
