The Praja Rajyam Party president on Wednesday blamed the state government for the death of 2 protestors by police firing at Sompeta in Srikakulam district, and said that he condemned the incident, in the strongest possible terms.
Chiranjeevi demanded an ex-gratia of Rs. 10 lakh for the kin of each of the victims.
Talking to media persons at the assembly premises, PRP chief K Chiranjeevi said that the hasty decisions by the government in giving the nod for various power projects to be set up has led to resentment among the people.
He said that the decision to give the nod for the Nagarjuna Construction Company to set up the 2,000 MW power project at Sompeta should have been taken after eliciting the opinion of the people living there.
The PRP chief accused the government of coming under the influence of businessmen and giving the go-ahead to private organisations to set up the power projects without taking the views of people.
