In light of the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan, a civil mock drill was today conducted in Hyderabad, following directives from the Union Home Ministry.
Personnel from various departments participated in the drill, held under the banner of Operation Abhyaas.
The exercise aimed to raise awareness of and enhance preparedness for emergency situations.
As part of the drill, sirens were sounded for two minutes in several areas under the GHMC limits, including major intersections across the city.
The mock drills were carried out in four key areas of the city - Nanalnagar, Kanchanbagh, Secunderabad and ECIL/NFC - and were closely monitored by senior officials from the Command Control Centre.
NDRF personnel briefed citizens on the safety protocols to follow in the event of a war-like situation. Authorities demonstrated evacuation procedures from a 24-storey building near the DRDA office, simulating emergency response strategies. Participants were also trained in how to assist and safely evacuate injured individuals during a crisis.
Firefighters were deployed as part of the drill, which was conducted in coordination with officers from 12 departments.
A similar drill was also held at the Old Post Office intersection in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, where residents were educated on precautionary measures to take during emergencies.
