Falaknuma police on Friday said that they have nabbed 5 persons on charges of printing and circulating fake currency on Thursday.
According to the police, one of the 5 accused is the Pastor of a church.
Bonala Sudarshan Rao, Ninavath Tulcha, Kankati Biskshapathi, Kalabhai Ramesh and Chintala Venkatesh were arrested for possessing fake currency-making equipment, and for printing and circulating counterfeit currency.
Sudarshan Rao, the Pastor, is the ringleader. According to the police, K Bikshapathi and K Ramesh, both residents of Gandhi Nagar at Engine Bowli, were nabbed while they were trying to circulate the counterfeit currency of the Rs. 100 denomination.
100 currency notes of the Rs. 100 denomination were seized from them.
Subsequently, a case was registered in Cr No 205/2010 u/s 489 (a) to (e) IPC.
Following their disclosure, the Falaknuma inspector apprehended the main accused B Sudharshan Rao.
Sudharshan Rao has been accused of setting up a printing machinery at his church, where he started printing counterfeit currency. He circulated the currency through his associates, in busy markets.
Police have seized counterfeit currency worth Rs. 60,650 of Rs. 100 and Rs. 50 denominations. Further arrests are expected.
