The state government will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Chittoor district from March 30th to April 1st.
Revenue Minister Raghuveera Reddy told mediapersons at the Assembly media-point that the centenary celebrations will include cultural programs, and food stalls to aim at highlighting the culinary delights of the district.
Chittoor district was formed on April 1st, 1911, by dividing the then Kadapa, Nellore and North Arcot districts. The district was formed on the basis of the Pataskar Commission's recommendations.
Incidentally, Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu both hail from the district. And Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) President K Chiranjeevi represents the Tirupati Assembly constituency, which also falls under the Chittoor district.
Raghuveera Reddy stated that Governor E S L Narasimhan will inaugurate the centenary celebrations on March 30th, and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will participate in the concluding ceremony.
IAS, IFS, IPS, serving Collectors, SPs and other officials (past and present) will be felicitated during the centenary celebrations.
The Minister invited all leaders, irrespective of their political affiliations, to participate in the festivities. The district Collector will personally extend invitations to all political leaders, Raghuveera Reddy informed.
He added that the problems faced by the people of the district will be brought to the Chief Minister's notice during his visit to Chittoor.
