Hyderabad | 29th April 2026
AICC Secretary Sampath Kumar has filed a defamation case in the Special Magistrate Court for Public Representatives in Nampally against senior BRS leaders K T Rama Rao and T Harish Rao, as also against certain media organisations, alleging a sustained campaign of false propaganda against him.

The complaint names multiple individuals and entities, including political leaders and media outlets, as respondents in the case.

According to Sampath Kumar, fabricated allegations were circulated to tarnish his image, including claims that he demanded Rs 8 crore from a contractor - an accusation he strongly denied, terming it baseless and malicious.

He also alleged that the defamatory content was amplified through media platforms, including print publications and social media handles, with an intent to damage his political credibility.

Kumar also said that Harish Rao had earlier attempted to lure him into switching parties by offering Rs 30 crore, and that he did not yield as he remained committed to the Congress' ideology.

The matter is expected to come up for hearing in the coming days, potentially intensifying the ongoing political confrontation between the Congress and the BRS in Telangana.
