Welcoming the High Court's verdict against BRS leader and former MLA Chennamaneni Ramesh, whose Indian citizenship was stripped and who was declared a German citizen, Government Whip and Vemulawada MLA Aadi Srinivas today demanded that former chief minister and BRS president K Chandrashekar Rao tender an unconditional apology to the people for encouraging the former in politics.
"The BRS chief should tender an unconditional apology to the people of Vemulawada for fielding an ineligible candidate in the Assembly election," Srinivas said.
Speaking to reporters at the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) media conference hall, Srinivas said that the truth had finally prevailed after a 15-year legal battle, and that the court's verdict was a slap in the face for KCR.
The Congress MLA pointed out that Ramesh's voting rights were annulled previously too by the Andhra Pradesh High Court, and that his Indian citizenship had been cancelled three times by the Union government. Srinivas also accused Ramesh of misusing his OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) card and travelling 45 times using a German passport. He alleged that KCR had knowingly granted a party ticket to Ramesh despite being aware of all that and his non-citizenship status, and called for strict legal action against both KCR and Chennamaneni for misleading the people.
The Congress MLA also asked why KTR, who was vocal on all issues on the social media, was staying silent on this matter.
Srinivas vowed to continue his legal battle if Ramesh appealed the verdict in a higher court.
