Government Whip Aadi Srinivas today claimed that BRS working president K T Rama Rao's visit to Delhi was a tactic to avoid a deeper controversy surrounding the Formula E event, as well as due to concerns about a possible FIR approval from the Governor.
The Congress MLA alleged that KTR's visit under the guise of discussing the AMRUT project was to appease BJP leaders and escape any corruption cases.
Referring to KTR's allegations surrounding the AMRUT project tenders, Aadi Srinivas dismissed the need for any complaints anywhere, pointing out that former MLA Kandal Upender Reddy, also a member of the BRS, had already confirmed that no corruption had occurred.
Criticizing the legal notices issued concerning an alleged Rs 8,888 crore scam, he said that the tender value was only Rs 3,500 crore and that KTR's exaggerated claims were damaging his own credibility. "Even KTR has no understanding of these tenders. Instead of approaching the Union government, why doesn't he first answer Upender Reddy?" he asked KTR, and said that KTR's main agenda had always been to criticize the Chief Minister and the State government.
"But no matter how hard you try to deflect and distract, KTR, there's no escape. You will need to account for the funds misused in the Formula E event," Srinivas said. He said that the law would take its course, and that if KTR was found guilty there would be no option for him but prison.
