The Andhra Pradesh Film Chamber Of Commerce has formed a committee to check the inflow of dubbing films at the cost of local films, since there is a yawning gap in the production cost between the two.
The committee comprises producers, distributors and exhibitors. It will discuss several proposals, and pass a resolution to be sent to the state government to legislate it.
Some of the proposals that the committee will discuss are: increasing the tax on dubbed movies from the current 20% to 50%, allowing the release of only direct Telugu movies during important festivals, and restricting the number of screens for dubbed movies (producers say 85 theatres while exhibitors demand 150).
The resolution will ask the government to implement the demands from 1 January 2012. (INN)
