The Telangana government has initiated the process for the selections for the prestigious Gaddar Telangana Film Awards aimed at honouring cinematic excellence within the State.
A meeting of the Gaddar Awards jury took place at the TFDC conference hall, and was chaired by noted actress Jayasudha Kapoor.
Jayasudha expressed her intention to embrace the responsibility entrusted by the government as a challenge, vowing to successfully carry out the selection process.
Dil Raju, Chairman of the Telangana Film Development Corporation (TFDC), urged the jury members to fairly assess the nominations submitted for the awards.
He encouraged them to work in a manner that would elevate the recognition of the Telugu film industry on a national level.
"In the previous united Andhra Pradesh, the film awards did not garner such a level of response," he said.
TFDC MD Dr S Harish said that the government had formed a 15-member jury for the awards, with actress Jayasudha as the Chairperson.
He said that a total of 1,248 nominations had been received for the awards across all categories, and that the screening process for the nominations would begin on April 21.
The Gaddar Telangana Film Awards were earlier known as the Nandi Awards.
