The stage is set for the day-long hunger strike (which he has labelled "dharma deeksha") of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the IGM stadium of Vijayawada on April 20 from 7 am to 7 pm, in protest against the Centre not granting Special Category Status (SCS) to the state.
April 20 is Chandrababu Naidu's birthday.
This is probably the first time that a Chief Minister is going on a fast protesting against the Government of India.
Minister for Water Resources Management Umamaheswara Rao and District Collector B Lakshmikantham inspected the arrangements made at the IGM stadium for the fast.
Meanwhuile, under the auspices of TDP Mahila leader Mullapudi Renuka, women organised special prayers at the Sri Kanaka Durga temple on Indrakeeladri wishing that the Chief Minister's deeksha be successful.
