Hindupuram TDP MLA and Telugu film actor Nandamuri Balakrishna today strongly criticised the BJP and warned that the TDP would not keep quiet if injustice was done to Andhra Pradesh.
Addressing the diksha camp where Chief Minister and TDP president Chandrababu Naidu was on a day-long hunger strike, Balakrishna asserted that special category status was the right of the Telugu people.
Recalling the situation before the formation of the TDP, he said that the Telugu people were referred to as Madrasis at that time. But after the TDP was started by NTR to protect the self-respect of the Telugus and stormed to power in 9 months, they started being referred to as Telugu people.
Chandrababu Naidu was also fighting today to protect Andhra Pradesh, and his fast demanding Special Category Status (SCS) for the state was one more step in that direction, the actor turned politician said.
He said that the party had an alliance with the NDA led by the BJP anticipating help in the allround development of the state after an unscientific bifurcation, but the time had now passed to maintain cordial relations. It was now time for a direct fight with the BJP as the NDA government had continuously neglected the interests of the state, he said.
Lambasting the BJP for getting friendly with the YSR Congress Party led by Jaganmohan Reddy, he said that neither the BJP nor the YSR Congress would win a single seat in Andhra Pradesh in the coming elections.
