Naidu Picks Pratibha Bharathi For AP MLC Seat
Jupudi missed his chance at the last minute, due to his having his vote in Telangana and not AP.
Hyderabad | 21st May 2015
TDP leader Jupudi Prabhakar Rao missed his chance of becoming an MLC at the last minute, with former Speaker Kavali Pratibha Bharathi being picked as the TDP nominee instead.
Election to four MLC seats of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council under the MLA quota will be held on June 1.
Though he hails from the Prakasam district, Jupudi had settled in Hyderabad, and is staying in Kukatpally. He has his vote in Kukatpally. This was brought to the notice of the TDP president and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on the last minute. This could be the reason for Jupudi losing the chance of becoming an MLC, as a candidate contesting for the post should have his vote in the state from where he is contesting.
Jupudi's name figured along with those of three other candidates for the MLC nominations.
Some party leaders like Varla Ramaiah, Kutuhalamma, J R Pushparaj, Masala Padmaja and Balli Durga Prasad were sad with Jupudi losing the nomination. However, Jupudi hopes he may get a chance in the Governor quota later. (NSS)
