The attack on the Andhra Pradesh Leader Of Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy was engineered by the TDP leadership as it was scared of his growing popularity, said YSR Congress Party MLA and stormy petrel Roja.
The Naidu government had since been making every possible attempt to divert and dilute the investigation process, she added.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Roja said that efforts to side-track the investigation into the attack on the YSR Congress Party supremo had started on the very day of the attack itself when the DGP and the Chief Minister had expressed their views intended to dilute the gravity of the incident.
"It has been ten days since the attack took place, but there has predictably been no progress in the investigation," she added.
?It is only Chandrababu Naidu and his party that will benefit from the physical elimination of Jaganmohan Reddy, and this angle was never taken up for consideration in the investigation which shows how things are moving and at what pace," she said.
"The reaction of Chandrababu Naidu, the words he spoke and the expressions he had given where he could neither hide his happiness over the incident nor show the frustration over the failure of the attempt, make him the main accused in the case," she claimed.
"Why was the restaurant owner Harshavardhan Prasad Choudhary was not questioned thoroughly, and why was there no proper explanation as to why he had given orders that outside food and water should not be served to Jaganmohan Reddy in the airport lounge? This angle has been totally ignored, and instead the people who matter have prematurely declared that it is a minor incident," she said. "This was the reason we have been insisting that the investigation should be carried out by an agency which is not under the control of the state government."
