Both the UPA-II government at the Centre and the Congress government in the state are being protected by Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu, charged YSR Congress party honourary president Y S Vijayamma, on Wednesday.
Addressing the media after arriving at Pulivendula from Hyderabad, Vijayamma said that the Kiran Kumar Reddy led Congress government was gradually slipping into the danger of being assigned minority status, and that Naidu had come to the party's rescue by issuing a whip to its members during the no-trust vote.
"In fact, Naidu has been protecting both the state and the Central governments in order to fulfil his own selfish reasons," she remarked, "He wants to avoid a possible CBI probe on the wrongdoings that he had committed during his regime."
Vijayamma said that this is the reason for the vehement opposition that Naidu has been putting up against YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy.
"Both Congress and TDP have conspired and sent Jagan to jail. They are now trying to ensure that even bail is denied to him," Vijayamma charged.
She said that while the ministers are openly declaring that all the 26 GOs issued by them were in order, the government has not yet come out with an official statement on the issue. Her allegations echo those of
her colleague, Sobha Negi Reddy.
"When the ministers themselves have objected to calling him 'tainted', how can allegations be made against the late YSR? Jaganmohan Reddy didn't hold any public post between 2004 and 2009, and he never stepped into the Secretariat. In such a case, how can you find fault with him?" she asked.
Vijayamma went on to say that Naidu's "theatrics" against the ministers facing allegations have followed his secret meetings with Congress leaders in Delhi during his recent trips. She also demanded that probes be initiated into the scams that had occured during Naidu's regime.
"Naidu's involvement in all the scams, including the Eleru Canal scam, should be probed," she said.
Vijayamma had arrived at Pulivendula on a two-day tour of the Pulivendula constituency. She will inaugurate safe drinking water schemes at Vempally and K Raju Pally on Wednesday, and will also participate in the vardhanthi of Y S Raja Reddy on Thursday. (INN)
