Criticizing Kurnool MP Butta Renuka for defecting to the ruling TDP, YSR Congress Party spokesperson K Parthasarathy on Tuesday said that despite her being a political novice, Renuka was given a party ticket by the YSR Congress, and that party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy ensured her victory, and that this was how she was repaying her benefactors.
Speaking to the media, Parthasarathy said that Renuka had allegedly received Rs 70 crores for defecting to the ruling party.
He said that Chandrababu Naidu had again started buying YSRCP leaders to cover up his corruption and financial irregularities. This move was aimed at distracting the people's attention in the state, he said, adding that the TDP was in jitters because of Jagan's padayatra set to begin from November 2.
He also alleged that the ruling party was trying to pre-empt the yatra by engineering political defections.
Parthasarathy also pointed out that the Chief Minister had given ministerial berths to defectors from the YSR Congress who didn't deserve them, in contrast to Jagan, who he claimed was committed to ethical values, and had inducted Silpa Chakrapani Reddy into the party only after the latter resigned from his MLC post.
Parthasarathy also threw a challenge to the TDP for an open debate on BC welfare.
