The first day of the winter session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly today was off to a tumultuous start, with the house witnessing a volley of bitter exchanges between the members of ruling and opposition parties as soon as it met.
The Assembly even suspended opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu and 12 other TDP MLAs from the house for a day after they allegedly created a commotion while the House was discussing how to support the farmers who lost their crops in the recent cyclone.
Chaos broke out when Naidu reportedly sat down in front of the Speaker's podium to protest the attitude of the ruling party, and then tried to interrupt Chief Minister Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's speech, in which he was replying to the allegations made by TDP MLA Nimmala Rama Naidu against the government on the issue of the distribution of cyclone relief.
Naidu accused the leaders of the YSRCP of indulging in hooliganism in the Assembly.
Following this, the members of the TDP also raised slogans against the state government.
Left with no option, the Speaker Thammineni Seetharam suspended 13 TDP MLAs including Naidu for a day, stating that they were obstructing the session.
