Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Monday said that the state government would not move any resolution on the Telangana state formation in the ongoing Assembly session.
Talking to media persons at his chambers in the Assembly, the Chief Minister said that the government was not in a position to move the resolution as parties were divided on the issue. When the reporters argued that all parties had expressed their opinions and were waiting for the government to move a resolution in the House, he said that the government has no intention on moving the resolution as the issue was under the purview of the Centre.
The Chief Minister stated that the Centre has all the details in connection with the Telangana issue, and that the consultation process with the concerned stakeholders is going on in order to resolve the matter.
Responding to the Telangana March called by Telangana Political Joint Action Committee on September 30, he said that the government has asked the Telangana leaders to call off their march as Centre was dealing with the issue. He said that there were no official norms for the state government to observe a Hyderabad Liberation Day in the state, unlike Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Condemning the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram for his harsh comments against Civil Supplies Minister D Sridhar Babu, the Chief minister said that the law would take its course of action. Prof M Kodandaram had said that D Sridhar Babu would meet the same fate as his father Sripada Rao, who was killed by naxalites. On the Babli issue, the Chief Minister said that he was contacting his Maharashtra counterpart to resolve it.
The Chief Minister also made it clear that the government would not be in a position to bear the additional financial burden caused by the hike in the price of diesel and the restricted subsidy on LPG in a family to six cylinders per year. He called upon the opposition parties to come for a discussion on people’s issues instead of resorting to dharnas in the House.
Kiran Kumar Reddy said that a Cabinet Sub-committee has been appointed to look into reservation for BCs in the local body elections. (INN)
