Government whip Toorpu Jayaprakash Reddy says that the House could not pass the resolution as there was no majority for passing the Telangana resolution.
Government chief whip Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy on Tuesday condemned the Telangana Rashtra Samithi for insisting on having the Telangana resolution passed in the Assembly at a time when the Centre was making sincere efforts to resolve the issue.
Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office, Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy said that all important public issues got diverted with the TRS members pressing for a resolution on the Telangana issue and that Speaker Nadendla Manohar was forced to adjourn the House without taking up any discussion on vital issues. “It is not good for the TRS to hold the Assembly for ransom, i.e. the Telangana issue, when the Centre was taking a decision on it by the end of this month,” he said.
He appealed to TRS members to at least now permit the House to take up healthy discussions on important issues that have gripped the State, and to cooperate with the Speaker in running the House smoothly, .
With regard to members of the Telangana region expressing solidarity towards the 'Telangana March' being organised by the Telangana Political Joint Action committee, he said that it was their personal decision and that the party had nothing to do with it.
He also accused the Telugu Desam Party of not playing the role of a constructive opposition in running the House smoothly. (INN)
