Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal on Wednesday claimed that the Congress-led UPA Government would stall the process of the formation of Telangana state.
Talking to reporters after the Seemandhra MPs of the Congress party met at his residence here, Lagadapati said that the MPs got clear indications from the Centre that the State's bifurcation process would be stopped.
He said an official announcement in this regard was expected soon. He said that the decision would certainly bring the ongoing agitations in Seemandhra region to a halt.
Lagadapati said that the Seemandhra MPs were putting in all efforts to prevent the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. The State was still united only due to the Seemandhra MPs, he claimed.
He said that the MPs would present the concerns of the Seemandhra people before the high-powered committee led by Defence Minister A K Antony.
The meeting at Lagadapati's residence was attended by MPs Harsha Kumar, Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, SPY Reddy, Sai Pratap, Ananta Venkatarami Reddy, KVP Ramachandra Rao and others. (INN)
