Will Quit If Centre Divides State: Rayapati

Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao threatens to resign from his post if the Centre decides to divide the state of Andhra Pradesh for the formation of a separate Telangana state.

A day after Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal issued a threat to quit politics, Guntur MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao too announced that he would resign from his post if the Centre decides to divide Andhra Pradesh.

Talking to reporters in Guntur, Rayapati said that he was totally opposed to the division of the state, and that he would vote against Telangana if a referendum is sought in the future. He also said that he would even take up the matter with the Congress High Command.

After Lagadapati's announcement, several leaders from the Andhra and the Rayalaseema regions have cautioned the Congress High Command against taking a decision in favour of the formation of a separate Telangana state. (INN)
