Cannabis Being Sold In HCU, Students Ordering On Dark Net: Police

The newly-formed city police's narcotics wing today nabbed members of three gangs involved in the trafficking of drugs.
Revealing the details at a press conference, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand said that some of the accused were engineering graduates, post graduates and software engineers. He added that some of the accused were females, too, and that some of the consumers were holding good positions in the state.
The police had arrested 11 persons in the cases and seized items worth Rs. 4.5 lakh comprising of mobile phones, laptops and drugs, Anand said. The accused had brought the drugs to the city from Goa, he said, adding that the sale was being done by software engineers.
Anand also said that one of the arrested was a Nigerian, and that the police were finding that Nigerian nationals were committing a lot of cyber crimes. He added that some foreign students were staying in the country even after the expiry of their passports, and that the police would bring the issue of these time-barred passports of foreign nationals to the Indian government.
The Commissioner also said that one of the arrested addicts was a student of the Hyderabad Central University, and that sale of cannabis was going on in the university. He claimed that the students were ordering the drugs of their choice using the Dark Net.
Stating that the attempts of the police to reform the students and prevent them from consuming the banned drugs, the CP lamented that the police did not see any change in them.
